FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol – a rather popular way to transfer website files between a computer system and a server. With an FTP client program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can make a connection to the server and see its content in one pane, whereas the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the main program window. All you’ll have to do to send files or entire directories in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by many users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be limited to access just one folder on the server, so a designer, for instance, can complete their task without being able to see any other content in your hosting account. In addition, the presence of different FTP accounts will also enable you to build multiple Internet sites with web design apps like Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their respective directories on the server.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the shared hosting packages offered by our company, because we’ve chosen not to restrict this feature. In this way, you can maintain multiple Internet sites at once or give other people access to different directories. As soon as a given job has been done and you do not want that person to be able to access your website files anymore, you can modify the password for the given FTP account or you can just remove the account with a couple of clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about someone connecting to it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all website hosting plans, will allow you to check the complete list of the active FTP accounts listed in alphabetical order. It takes just one click to administer different options for any of them – to modify the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a separate FTP account for any of them, since we haven’t put a restriction on this service with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you have created, along with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If needed, you’ll be able to modify the password for a given FTP account or to change its access path with a couple of clicks. You can also remove an account with ease if you do not need it anymore – for example, if you’ve hired a developer who’s done with the website and you do not want them to be able to access your website files any longer. For your convenience, we’ve prepared different educational video clips, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without efforts if you’ve never used a website hosting package previously.
